After a few pages explaining showmanship the author then jumps into the meat of Master Mentalism. The first chapter starts off with 30 tricks involving mentalism, mind reading, and psychological illusions. All you need is one trick to amaze people but here you get 30. Each trick in this book is double-spaced so it is easy to read. Not only does the author reveal how each trick is done; he also tells you how to perform the trick in a very dramatic manner.

The second chapter has an interview David Blaine did with Larry King. David talks about how he started in magic, and how he does his magic. This is a great behind-the-scenes look into what David has gone through to perform his magic. Reg Seeton interviews Chris Angel. Chris talks about what he was doing before Mind Freak and how Mind Freak came about. He then goes on to talk about some of the illusions he performs on Mind Freak and about his thoughts on magic in general. Anyone interested in learning magic or mentalism would do well reading these and studying from the masters.

In chapter three, the secrets of David Copperfield are exposed. How he made a jumbo jet and the Statue of Liberty vanish. You also get the secret to how David walked through the Great Wall of China. If you want to someday do some really large illusions, the plans are right here.

Chapter four discusses Levitation. The history and theories people have come up with to explain how things can float. Then the author goes on to explain how anyone, even a child can levitate objects. How to levitate small objects or even a person. As a magician myself, I know audiences are always amazed at things that float “miraculously” in the air. When I do my self levitation I always get a good response from the audience.

Chapter five gives you plenty of card tricks. Everyone own cards so when you do tricks with their decks they are even more impressed than if you had brought your own. I can also tell you this from personal experience, if you are single or shy, doing a card trick is a great way to break the ice and meet a person of the opposite sex.

The last chapter delves into hypnosis. While hypnosis technically is not magic, hypnosis can also be very entertaining. People have created whole careers just out of this one thing alone. If you have ever seen a hypnotist perform it can be very funny. In fact hypnosis has also been able to cure smoking, pain, shyness and just about anything else. In this chapter you get the actual script of exactly what to say to hypnotize someone and how to tell if they have gone under and how to bring them out. This could have been a whole course in itself but the author generously included it here.

Overall, Master Mentalism is an excellent ebook. This ebook and the bonuses will appeal to beginners and intermediate mentalists and magicians. If you’re an advanced mentalist, you may not find anything new here when it comes to mentalism. If you are an advanced magician like I am, you’ll still find many new tricks that you can add to your repertoire. I believe the Encyclopedia of Card Tricks alone is worth more than the price of admission, so I'd have to give this ebook my highest recommendation.
